For those who were gamers back in the 80’s the name Joust may sound familiar to some of you. The 8 bit action arcade game was released back in 1982 by Williams Electronics and since then it seems like not much as been done with it in general. While Joust did have a direct sequel entitled Joust 2: Survival of the Fittest which came out in 1986 it was never ported to the Nintendo Entertainment System. In fact Joust 2: Survival of the Fittest remained an arcade exclusive and is not talked about quite as much as its prequel. On one hand Joust 2: Survival of the Fittest could have definitely worked on the NES in theory.

However, around the mid to late 80’s people started to grow more interested in games such as Super Mario Bros, Mega Man, Castlevania, Contra along with the Legend of Zelda series during that time period. Plus Sega has released the Mega Drive System in 1988 and people were beginning to embrace 16 gaming around the mid to late 80’s. The gaming world was evolving during the time and games such as Joust started to decline in popularity during the later part of the 80’s. But seeing Joust 2: Survival of the Fittest on the 8 bit NES would been pretty cool.
