When most people think about old school 2D JRPG titles from the 90’s they think about many games that has appeared on the SNES in the past Chrono Trigger, Illusion of Gaia, Secret of Mana and others. For the Sega Genesis some of the main JRPG titles that instantly comes to mind includes the Phantasy Star series Beyond Oasis, Dungeons & Dragons: Warriors of the Eternal Sun, along with Shining Force II. While those games were all popular JRPG titles for the Sega Genesis some people wonder whether or not Vay could have possibly became bigger than it did on the 16-bit console during the early 90’s. After all, the Sega Genesis attracted more mainstream attention than the Sega CD and ended up sell more during the 90’s overall.

On one hand Vay could have ended up standing out as a JRPG on the Sega Genesis possibly a step behind the Phantasy Star series in terms of popularity. But then again JRPG’s were generally overshadowed by Sonic the Hedgehog games on the Sega Genesis since they generally earned more for Sega in general. Also, as cool as Vay was for the Sega CD it seemed like a generic JRPG that could have been was overshadowed by countless other big titles for the Sega Genesis. If anything having Vay in Sega CD made it standout even more than it could have on the Sega Genesis.
