When it comes down to classic VGM both Sonic the Hedgehog’s “Green Hill Zone” along with Street of Rage 2’s “Go Straight” are two of the most legendary soundtracks in gaming history. Some may find it hard that both soundtracks originated on the 16 bit Mega Drive back in the early when musical creativity was arguably at its peak in the gaming world. In terms of which theme song was more popular back in the 90’s is debatable.

Yuzo Koshiro’s Go Straight soundtrack is arguably one of the best VGM’s that one will ever hear in a beat em up game period. Go Straight was a soundtrack that resembled early 90’s house music and sounded like it could have been played on radio stations. In fact a majority of the soundtracks in Street of Rage 2 was arguably some of Yuzo Koshiro’s best work on the Sega Genesis. Green Hill Zone is also a legendary soundtrack that was composed by Massato Nakamura and marked the

origin of the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Green Hill Zone is arguably one of the best soundtracks to ever have been featured in a platform game and is one among many soundtracks from the 16 bit Sonic the Hedgehog trilogy that are considered to be timeless classics that people still listen to till this day. In terms of popularity some are more likely to give Green Hill Zone the edge over Street of Rage 2’s Go Straight.
