There was no doubt that there were many people looking forward to the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 back in 2010. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 was supposed to be long awaited sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog 3 that came out back in 1994. Ever since Sonic 4 episode I was released the game mainly positive review due to the inclusion of 2D gameplay mixed with 3D graphics which added to the overall appeal of the game itself. However, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I fell below the expectations of long time fans of the Sonic series. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 did not have the exact look and feel of the 16 bit trilogy that was on the Sega Genesis during the 90’s.

Mega Man 10 which was also released back in 2010 was pretty cool especially considering the fact that it look similar to the 8 bit classics for the NES from the 80’s and the early 90’s. In some ways Mega Man 10 had more appeal than Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I since it was able capture that old school gaming experience that retro gamer generally hunger for when they are looking forward to the release of a new video game. In terms of which game was more successful in 2010 is debatable but in terms of overall appeal but some might give Sonic the Hedgehog 4 the slight edge since the Sonic Team decided to try something new for the long awaited sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
