We all remember how popular the scroller shooting genre of gaming was back in the 80’s. When Zero Wing was first released in arcade centers during the Fall of 1989 one of the many things that had to be mind of gamers at the time was whether or not this title was going to be ported for a home based console. Even though, it took over a year Zero Wing was eventually ported to the Sega Mega Drive in Japan during the Spring of 1991.

For whatever reason Zero Wing was never released for the Sega Mega Drive or Genesis console in America during the early 90’s which is somewhat perplexing. Then again, seeing that the 2D side scrolling shooter genre of gaming was slowly starting to decline in 90’s so it probably make sense why Zero Wing was never released in America during that time period. Not only was Zero Wing critically acclaimed following its release some might even but the game on the same level as titles such as Gley Lancer for the Sega Genesis.
