When it comes down to RPG titles of 00’s Kingdom Hearts II was probably one of the most popular games of the decade.   Kingdom Hearts II was released for both the PlayStation 2 and the PlayStation 3 between 2005-2006 and was the third game in the series following the release of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories which came out in the Fall of 2004.  Ever since the original version of Kingdom Hearts II was released for the PlayStation 2 the game had managed to sell over 4 million units worldwide on that console alone while reaching over one million on the PlayStation 3.

In terms of whether or not Kingdom Hearts II would have worked on the Nintendo GameCube is debatable.  After all, the relationship between Square Enix and Nintendo was still a bit rocky following the fallout the two entities had back in the 90’s involving the N64.  As far as graphics and gameplay are concerned many argue that Kingdom Hearts II could have definitely worked on the Nintendo Gamecube.  However, its questionable on whether or not a GameCube port of Kingdom Hearts II could have sold as much as the PS2 version of the game considering how popular the console was throughout the entire decade.  If anything Kingdom Hearts II being released exclusively for PlayStation consoles is what helped the game out in terms of sales.
