The GameCube was a console that was unique because it was Nintendo ‘s first 128 bit game system.  When GameCubeconsole was first released in 2001 it had so many cool games like Super Smash Bros Melee, Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Resident Evil 4 and much more.  However, when the console was first released it received a mixed reception following its release.

On one hand the Nintendo GameCuve sold over 49 million units worldwide prior to being discontinued worldwide in 2007.  But some might argue that the release of the Nintendo Wii in 2006 may have played a role in diminishing the amount of sales the console could have done if it remained in electronic retail stores longer than it did.  Also, considering the fact that GameCube was competing with Xbox and PS2 in the early 00’s the amount of sales that GameCube did in the 00’s should not be much of a surprise to many people.  While GameCube was more successful than the Wii-U it still pales in comparison to the likes of the Nintendo Wii and the Switch console in terms of sales.
