Some people may find it strange that there were far more Capcom games featured on the PS1 then there was on N64 back in the late 90’s. Even though, Capcom made a few games for the N64 such as Mega Man 64 and the Magical Terris Challenge back in the 90’s many people wonder why popular titles that were featured on the SNES such as the Street Fighter and DarkStalkers series was not featured on the N64 during the mid to late 90’s. Even though, Capcom and Nintendo had a good relationship during the early to mid 90’s; some might argue that the reason that Capcom lacked in N64 games was similar to the reason why the Square Enix did not have too many Nintendo 64 games.
The fact that Nintendo wanted to stick to making cartridge based games during the mid to late 90’s was something that other video game developers were not high on during the time. There were companies like Square Enix that decided to have a majority of their games featured on the PS1 such as Final Fantasy VII & VIII. The truth was that CD ROM’s included impressive features such as better animation for 2D games. The N64 did not have too many 2D games and for the most part was able too develop mainly 3D titles. Capcom taking most of their games such as the Street Fighter Alpha series to the PS1 was a smart decision in the long run that has helped them out a lot when it came down to revenue and sales.
