It seems like Riot Games is among numerous other video game companies that have resorted to cost-cutting measures in relation to the 20’s decade. It has been recently revealed that at least 80 staff members who were apart of the development team for 2XK0 are going to be out of a job before the end of 2026. Similar to other video game developers Riot Games claim that the changes are apart of a restructuring strategy designed to maximize profits in the future. However, it should be noted since 2XK0 was launched back in 2025 the game itself has been considered a massive commercial flop. 2XK0 was a multi-platform free-to-play video game that was available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC. 2XKO had initially faced criticism for its lack of characters and bugs which harmed the quality of the game itself.

One of the biggest complaints that players had in relation to 2XKO was the aggressive monetization tactics Riot Games used through expensive skins along with the removal of free rewards system. 2XK0 despite its impressive aesthetics and gameplay also got criticized for other online features in relation to poor matchmaking and toxicity from players. The total amount of how much Riot Games have lost from 2XKO has not been revealed considering since the company is privately owned. But since half of the development team for 2XKO been cut its clearly an ominous sign regarding the performance of the game itself. There has been no announcement about Riot Games shutting down 2XKO down completely. 2XKO has been labeled a disaster since its launch back in October 2025 and it longevity is something that people are uncertain about right now.
