It seems like Battlefield 6 has been make headlines since its release. Battlefield 6 came out on October 10th and has already shattered everyone’s expectations in relation to sales in less than a week. Its been reported that EA’s Battlefield 6 has managed to sell seven million copies within three days which is nothing short of astounding. Battlefield 6 is a first-person shooter that has a variety of different game modes including campaign, Deathmatch, Escalation, Dominion. The online multiplayer gameplay allows up to 64 players which is cool but its a step down from the last entry in the Battlefield series. Battlefield 2042 from 2021 allowed up to 128 players and that feature being absent in Battlefield 6 is one of the minor criticisms that players have. But it should also be noted that Battlefield 2042 had no single player campaign and was a game that faded away into irrelevancy after a year or so as the player count for the game was dropping. One of the reasons why people are into Battlefield 6 was because gamers are fed up with Activision and their antics in relation to the Call of Duty series. Issues regarding aggressive monetization, performance issues and lack of customer satisfaction has played a role in gamers slowly revolting against Activision. While Call of Duty Black Ops 6 from 2024 was considered a solid entry compared to what Activision produced in 2023; gamers have higher expectations from Activision in relation to the Call of Duty series in this day and age.

The reveal trailer for Black Ops 7 from August 2025 was generated backlash from the online gaming community and even made people want to pre-order Battlefield 6. Its no secret that oversaturation has harmed the Call of Duty series within the past several years and has contributed to decline interest in the series compared to the 2010’s decade. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is set to be released on November 10th for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X and Xbox One. But its hard to speculate whether or not it will end up surpassing Battlefield 6 in sales. The actual sales number for Black Ops 6 is something that Activision never really revealed which is not a good sign for Black Ops 7. When it came to down to the first-person shooter genre it always seemed like the Call of Duty franchise always had the edge over Battlefield. But its quite possible that things are changing and casual fans of the first-person shooter genre are leaning more towards the Battlefield franchise and choosing Electronic Arts to spite Activision. At this rate Battlefield 6 could end up being the best-selling installment within the entire franchise especially since it has managed to sell more in least than a week than an average game can in a year.
