Its hard to believe that its been ten years since Dying Light was released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Dying Light was a game that ended up becoming way more popular than people expected. Dying Light was developed by Techland and published by Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment. Dying Light was probably one of the best survival-horror video games of the 2010’s and it came out during a time where the Resident Evil series was starting to decline popularity. Similar to Resident Evil it was a survival-horror genre game but included first person parkour gameplay. Dying Light took place in a zombie infested open-world in a fictional city in the Middle East known as Harran. In Dying Light players were able to utilize various weapons to fight of various zombies to stay alive which was even harder during the night. The day and night cycle added more realism to the gameplay in Dying Light especially since Zombies became more fierce when the sun went down. Along with being able to control the main protagonist Kyle Crane Dying Light included co-op multiplayer gameplay which featured up to four players. The story for Dying Light saw Kyle Crane as a Global Relief Effort agent trying to find a cure for a virus that plagued Harran. In addition to being able to use parkour to travel players could also get around by zip-lining as Kyle Crane.

Its should also be noted that players had the option to engage in various side-quests by interacting with NPC’s which gave players many hours of gameplay. Dying Light had everything you could as for in a survival-horror game including amazing graphics, fluid gameplay, dark atmosphere, apocalyptic open-world design and more. Since its release Dying Light has managed to sell around 20 million copies worldwide making it one of the best selling survival-horror titles of the 10’s decade. Not only did Dying Light gain a cult following its release but it also spawned a sequel back in 2022 called Dying Light 2: Stay Human. The fact that Dying Light had Techland the company that created Dead Island from 2011 was one of the reasons why the game appealed casuals. While the story for Dying Light could have been better the game itself its considered a timeless masterpiece by many people. Dying Light is a game that deserves an official remaster for current generation consoles like the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and even the Nintendo Switch 2.
