It seems like the next few years might ending up being somewhat of a resurgence period for Microsoft in relation gaming. The news regarding Microsoft’s upcoming handheld game system is something that everyone is talking about right now. The rumor going around is that Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox handheld console will be revealed sometime this year but its official release date is still unknown. In addition to a brand new handheld console is seems like Microsoft is preparing to release a next generation game system sometime in 2027. The idea of Microsoft releasing of a next generation game system is shocking news especially considering the fact that the Xbox Series X sold significantly less than the Xbox One. The report regarding a next generation Xbox console is something that has not been officially confirmed Microsoft just yet. The belief that has been going around for the past few years is that the Xbox Series X was going to be Microsoft’s final game system. Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer had mentioned in the past that the business was going to focus more on cloud based gaming. The idea of moving towards cloud based gaming would hint at possibly moving away from producing game consoles. A next generation game system could also mean that Microsoft is not ready to call it quits in relation to the console wars. The Xbox Series X has been struggling to keep up with the likes of PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch in terms of commercial success. However, seeing that Microsoft has obtained multiple high profile IP’s through Activision-Blizzard there are millions of dollars to make off of franchises like Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, Diablo, StarCraft, Overwatch, Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon. Hopefully, we will learn more about Microsoft’s plans concerning Xbox in the near future.
