Its hard to believe that Mortal Kombat III has been around for 30 years. Mortal Kombat III was the ’95 sequel of the critically acclaimed Mortal Kombat 2 title which came out in 1993. Mortal Kombat III was a game that had noticeable improvements from MK2 in terms of gameplay. MK3 allowed characters to run and the gameplay in general was much faster. Also, Mortal Kombat III was the introduction of new characters including, Sindel, Kabal, Striker, Nightwolf, Sheeva and Sektor. Mortal Kombat III also saw the return of some popular characters including Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, Jax Sub-Zero, Shang Tsung, Kung Lao and Kano. The stages in Mortal Kombat III looked darker than they did in MK2 and players were able to perform more than just a fatality with the fighters. Mortal Kombat III was the game that introduced animality and brutalities which added more depth in terms of violence. Mortal Kombat III also saw the return of Shao Khan as the final boss with a brand new sub-boss named Motaro. Mortal Kombat III appeared on multiple consoles during the mid 90”s including Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis but they were not nearly as superior as the arcade version of the game. Despite, how fun MK3 was its almost felt like a prototype compared to what we got with Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 which had more characters and had a higher difficulty level. Even though, the graphics for Mortal Kombat III look outdated its still a pretty fun game to play if your an old-school gamer who grew up during the 90’s.
