Its hard to believe that Need For Speed: Most Wanted was released 20 years ago on the PlayStation 2. Need For Speed: Most Wanted is considered to be one of the most iconic racing games from the 2000’s decade. Need For Speed: Most Wanted came out during a time period where the racing genre was arguably at its peak in terms of popularity. Its probably safe to say that the Need For Speed series in general had reached its peak in terms of popularity during the 2000’s. Need For Speed: Most Wanted was the 2005 sequel to the critically acclaimed NFS: Underground 2 title from 2004. While Need For Speed: Underground 2 reached around eleven million copies in sales NFS: Most Wanted reached at least eighteen million following its release across multiple gaming platforms. Need For Speed: Most Wanted was praised for a variety reasons including its graphics and gameplay mechanics especially in relation to the heat system. The heat mechanic in Need For Speed: Most Wanted felt somewhat similar to that of Grand Theft Auto. In Grand Theft Auto games players attraction higher levels of opposition from law enforcement depending on how many stars they have. In Need For Speed: Most Wanted the more heat players have the more they likely to be pursued by law enforcement.

Along more realism Need For Speed: Most Wanted also had some pretty cool game modes Quick Race, Career along with Challenge series. The story involving the illegal street racing scene in Rockport is very interesting filled with unexpected twist and turns. While Need For Speed: Most Wanted from 2005 was considered to be a great game players were limited in terms of what vehicle they could drive which was one of the minor negatives about it. However, Need For Speed: Most Wanted outsold Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec and Gran Turismo 4 overtime is absolutely insane. Electronic Arts put out some of the best entries of the entire Need For Speed franchise during the 2000’s and Most Wanted from ’05 was arguably where the series peaked overall.
