
Its hard to believe that its been fifteen years since Super Street Fighter IV was released for PS3 and Xbox 360. Super Street Fighter IV was one of the few games that helped put the fighting genre of gaming back on the map during the 2010’s decade. Super Street Fighter IV was an updated version of the original SFIV game from 2008. The roster for Super Street Fighter IV saw the return of key characters from the franchise like Ryu, Ken, Guile, Cammy, Chun-Li, Rose and others while introducing new ones. Super Street Fighter IV was the game where characters like Juri-Han made their debut and saw the return of names like Adon, Cody, Dudley, Ibuki, T. Hawk, Guy and Dudley. Despite, not having a campaign mode Super Street Fighter IV was a pretty fun video game and featured standard game modes like Arcade, Versus, Training and Online gameplay. After its release Super Street Fighter IV got a decent amount of mainstream attention because it arguably saved its own franchise from dying altogether.

The mixture of familiar faces from the Street Fighter franchise along with the introduction of new ones made SSFIV stand out a bit more than its predecessors. The 2D gameplay mixed with 3D graphics was something that Capcom managed to pull off with Super Street Fighter IV before NetherRealm Studios did with Mortal Kombat IX. Super Street Fighter IV may not have been as good as SFV from 2016 but it was definitely a step up from the SFIII series from ’97-’99 which ended up being commercial failures. Super Street Fighter IV moved away from the dark tone that was present in the SFIII series in favor of a more lighter tone which seeming gave new life Capcom’s legendary fighting franchise. Super Street Fighter IV came out during a time where life in general was amazing and the game itself reflected some aspects of that. While Super Street Fighter IV could have been way better than what it was many people still have fond memories about it.
