Its hard to believe that Beyond Oasis came out on the Sega Genesis 30 years ago. The reason why Beyond Oasis was such a big deal on the Sega Genesis back in the mid 90’s because it one of the few decent action-adventure games from that era of gaming. The Sega Genesis did not have too many high profile video games that stood out on the Sega Genesis back in the day outside of the Sonic the Hedgehog trilogy from ’91-’94. Also, the most prominent genres on the Sega Genesis were platformers and action type games. The story for Beyond Oasis was basic but interesting and involved players controlling Prince Ali who was the main protagonist. Prince Ali was not necessarily a charismatic or memorable character and would probably be considered more of an anti-hero opposed to a hero. In Beyond Oasis Prince Ali acquired a gold armlet with magical powers which belong to an evil wizard and the game was about preventing him from getting it back. The gameplay and graphics for Beyond Oasis was great for its time and the soundtrack was cool especially since it was created by Yuzo Koshiro. The action-adventure genre was not nearly as popular back in the 90’s compared to today. If a game like Beyond Oasis got a remake today its something that would draw the interest of many Sega fans. Since Sega has plans on reviving older IPs from the 90’s and 2000’s they should consider rebooting Beyond Oasis a game that should have got a 3D remake a long time ago.

  1. Sega should consider a remake or an enhanced re-release.
