it seems like hacking and data theft is something that has been very problematic within the gaming industry as of late. It has recently revealed that Disney has recently been the target of data theft by a hacking group known as Nullbulge. According to My Nintendo News at least 1TB of data has been stolen from which contained sensitive information. The data breach on Disney has lead to unreleased projects, login details, concept art along with personal employee information being stolen which is a really big deal. Data theft is something that has become very common within the past few years especially considering what happened with Sony back in December 2023. Sony was targeted by a hacking group which managed to steal over 1.6 terabytes of data including files regarding a brand new video game for Marvel’s Wolverine. Also, around late 2023 a 18-year old was imprisoned for leaking screenshots and video footage of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto Vi which is supposed to be released in 2025. It seems like no major gaming developer or entertainment entity is safe from being targeted by hackers which is a scary thought to say the very least. At the moment it seems like Disney has yet to put out a statement regarding the data breach but hopefully we will learn more about what is to come in the future.
