When many people think about underrated video games from the 16-bit era one of the few titles that instantly comes to mind is Kid Chameleon from 1992. Kid Chameleon was released on the Genesis console and has developed a reputation for being one of the hardest video games from the early 90’s. Kid Chameleon was a game that had around 100 different levels an no password system which would allow players to pick up where they left off after losing. However, one of the best things about Kid Chameleon was that players were allowed to warp to different levels something that was not common in 16-bit platform titles back in the day. Also, the plot for Kid Chameleon had a boss character with artificial intelligence inside of virtual reality video game. The idea of having an A.I. boss in a 90’s video game is kinda eerie especially considering the fears and conspiracies about a potential artificial intelligence take over that has been going around for the past several years. Despite, Kid Chameleon being a commercial failure following its early 90’s release Sega should consider a possible reboot. Even though, the 2D platform genre of gaming is not as popular as it once was Kid Chameleon is still a cult classic that old school gamers are familiar with. Its shocking that Sega has never remastered Kid Chameleon or even attempted to create a sequel within the past 30 years. Since Sega is rebooting older IP’s like Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe and Streets of Rage they might as well throw Kid Chameleon into the mix also.
