It seems like Sony has been big on making popular video games for the legendary web-crawler Spider-Man within the past couple of years. The Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise has managed to become one of the most profitable series that Sony has produced between ’18-’23. The original Marvel’s Spider-Man game from 2018 managed to sell at least 20 million on the PlayStation 4. Also, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 from 2023 has already reached 11 million copies in sales on the PlayStation 5. Its also common knowledge that Sony has plans on releasing new Wolverine and Blade video games sometime in the future. However, there has been no talk of Sony releasing a high profile X-Men game which is a bit strange. The X-Men ’97 animated series which premiered on Disney + back in March 2024 has received nothing but praise from critics. While the X-Men series in general has significantly declined in popularity since the 2000’s the recent animated series has revived the interest of many longtime fans of the franchise. One of the last major X-Men games that we got was the “Destiny” title from 2011 which received horrible reviews. X-Men games were golden back in the 90’s and even the early 2000’s to some extent but most of the movies from the 2010’s were pretty good. Sony making an action-adventure or action role-playing X-Men game is something that could be a huge attraction promoted the right way.
