The Summer Games Fest 2024 was an event that contained a series of unexpected surprises one of them being Capcom’s announcement regarding Street Fighter 6 Season 2 character DLC pack. It was confirmed that one of the primary antagonists from the Street Fighter series M. Bison will be returning with an entirely new look. It was also confirmed that Elena from Street Fighter III will also be included in the upcoming DLC Season 2 pack for Street Fighter 6 also. One of the few things that caught many people off guard was Capcom’s new Street Fighter 6 trailer which included both Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui from SNK’s King of Fighters franchise. Apparently, Bogard and Shiranui will be playable characters for those who decide to purchase the Season 2 DLC pack for Street Fighter 6. Its been a very long time since SNK has done any high profile crossover collaboration with Capcom; with games like SNK vs Capcom 2 and SVC Chaos from the early 2000’s being among the last ones.
At this point it does not seem like Capcom and SNK are not at fierce competition with each other like many have believed over the years. While Mai and Terry appearing in SF6 is awesome news some are bummed by the fact that characters like Sakura Kasugano , Karin Kansuki, Rose and others have been omitted even though they are likely to show up in future DLC character packs. Even though, Street Fighter 6 was recognized as the best fighting game of 2023 the sales have seemingly fell below Capcom’s overall expectations reaching roughly around three million thus far. Hopefully, the inclusion of SNK characters along with the return of M. Bision will be enough to help Street Fighter 5 sell more copies worldwide within the next year or so.
