When it comes down to legendary first person shooter games one of the most beloved titles that we have seen within the past 20 years was Halo 2. The 2000’s was a glorious time to be a fan of the first-person shooter genre especially since the Halo series arguably at the peak of its popularity during the time. Halo 2 was developed by Microsoft Game Studios and developed by Bungie and the story focused on the war between Covenant and the human race. The campaign mode for Halo 2 had multiple difficulties including Easy, Normal, Heroic and Legendary. Halo 2 also had numerous multiplayer game modes that added to its replay value including Deathmatch, Dominions and Strongholds. The online multiplayer game modes in Halo 2 had mainstream appeal among the video game community back in the 2000’s.
Following the release of Halo 2 the game managed to reach at least eight million copies in sales on the original Xbox console along with PC. Halo 2 had at least eight multiplayer maps where players could engage in 1v1, 2v2 or 3v3 action and made the Unreal Tournament from ’99 look boring in comparison. One of the greatest things about Halo 2 was that it ended up being the prelude to the critically acclaimed Halo 3 title from ’07 which was arguably the best entry within the entire series. Halo 2 was one of Bungie’s greatest games ever and the series in general has never been the same after early 2010’s since 343 Industries became the developer for the franchise. The Anniversary Edition of Halo 2 which came out in 2014 was quite possibly the best remaster of any video game from its era and is something that people still enjoy today. Despite, the graphics for the original Halo 2 game being obsolete it still stands the test of time 20 years later due to its storytelling and and high replay value.
