Its hard to believe that J-Stars Victory VS was released ten years ago. J-Stars Victory VS was considered to be one of the most highly anticipated crossover Shonen games of the 2010’s. Even though, the hype for J-Star Victory VS was high prior to its release the game ended up being something that fell below many people’s desired expectations. The cool thing about J-Stars Victory VS was the fact that it featured high profile characters from numerous anime franchises including Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, Fist of the North Star, Hunter x Hunter, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and more. The graphics for J-Star Victory VS was quite possibly one of the best features of the game along with its fun factory. Also, players have to play through a huge chunk of the game’s story mode to unlock various characters throughout the game which was understandable. However, the Story Mode for J-Stars Victory VS was something that could have been so much better than what featured.
The missions in the story mode for J-Stars Victory VS had too much repetition and the plot was uninteresting to say the least. There had also been various complaints over the years that the online gameplay for J-Stars Victory VS suffered from lag despite the strength of one’s online connectivity. Characters in J-Star Victory vs had to be purchased using in-game “JP” currency which was kinda dumb but nothing major that hurt the overall quality of the game. In terms gameplay J-Stars Victory VS was considered to be a letdown but it was still better than the Jump Force game that we got back in 2019. J-Stars Victory VS probably would have been better off as a 2.5D tag-team fighting game similar to that of Marvel vs Capcom 3 from 2011. While J-Stars Victory VS had the potential to be one of the greatest crossover games of the 2010’s it ended up being a game that people hardly remember due to its lack of creativity and innovation.
