Sonic Advance 3 was quite possibly one of the most underrated titles for the Game Boy Advance during the early 2000’s. Sonic Advance 3 was released 20 years ago for the Game Boy Advance and it was arguably better than what Sega had produced during the 90’s in relation to gameplay. Sonic Advance 3 had five playable characters including Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose and Cream the Rabbit. Each character had their own special ability and when grouped up in different pairs could perform double team moves that could help destroy enemies or get them further along within the game. Sonic Advance 3 had around seven levels with multiple acts and a boss fight at the end of each. Sonic Advance 3 was definitely a much better installment than its ’03 predecessor Sonic Advance 2 because it had better level designs and the difficulty curb was lower in comparison. Also, Sonic Advance 2 did not allow players to control more than one character when playing through different levels.

Sonic Advance 3 was is not nearly as iconic as the 2D Sonic trilogy that appeared on Sega Genesis during the 90’s. However, Sonic Advance 3 was arguably one of the best Sonic titles from the 2000’s decade in general. Along with the likes of Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes the Sonic Advance 3 game was one of Sega’s best creations because of how high its replay value was. The soundtrack for Sonic Advance 3 was remarkably good by GBA standards and the game itself was worthy of a direct sequel which we never got. Its been years since Sonic Team and Dimps have collaborated to produce a high profile Sonic title like they did with Advance 3 and it seems unlikely anything like that will ever happen anytime in the near future. But there is no question that 20 years later Sonic Advance 3 is just as fun and addictive now as it was back in the 2000’s.
