When it comes down to underrated Dragon Ball games from the 2000’s one of the few titles rarely get talked about is Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure. The Dragon Ball: Advance Adventure was released between ’04-’05 and was developed by Dimps and had multiple publishers. The publishers for Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure included Banpresto, Atari and Bandi Europe depending on the country and similar to the Legacy of Goku series the game had a story mode. The story for this game focused on Goku’s childhood during the Dragon Ball arc leading up to his battle with King Piccolo who was the main antagonist. The story mode allowed players to choose Krillin after a certain point in the game’s story and was presented as a 2D beat em up game opposed to an RPG. Even though, the action role playing genre would have been a better option for Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure the game did feature a one on one fighting mode that allowed players to choose or select around 30 characters from the Dragon Ball series. Also, Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure included an Extra Mode which gave players the opportunity to revisit levels in the Story Mode to unlock various items. In Extra Mode players had access to other side characters within the Dragon Ball series including Yamcha, Tien and Chiaotzu. Despite, not being nearly as good as the Legacy of Goku trilogy it was arguably a better game than the Dragon Ball GT: Transformation game from 2005. Even though, Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure was a fun title for Game Boy Advance it was clearly overshadowed by the DBZ titles that appeared on the PS2 during the mid 2000’s.
