There are many people who remember Dj Hero 2 mainly because it was quite possibly one of the most unique music-rhythm video games of the early 2010s. Dj Hero 2 was developed by FreeStyleGames and published by Activision for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. Dj Hero 2 was the direct sequel to the original game which was released back in 2009 and it featured improved gameplay and a variety of game modes that players could enjoy. Dj Hero 2 had features such as Empire Mode which allowed players to start a career journey from being a low-tier indie disc jockey to becoming an international superstar. The Empire Mode was both challenging and exciting to many people and it allowed players to unlock different tiers of soundtracks along with QuickPlay Mode. In terms of gameplay mechanics the Freestyle sections were considered to be strong positives in Dj Hero 2 also because players had the ability to engage in crossfading, scratching and trigger sampling. Dj Hero 2 had more than 80 different mixes with over 100 songs with high profile music artists including Tiesto, Lady Gaga, Pitbull, deadmau5 and many more.

Similar to the likes of Guitar Hero and Rock Band players had to have a significant degree of musical talent and creativity to excel in Dj Hero 2. Dj Hero 2 despite how fun it was did poorly in sales due to how competitive the music-rhythm genre was during the early 2010’s. It should be noted that games like Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock and Rock Band 3 came out in 2010 and completely overshadowed the likes of Dj Hero 2 which contributed to the game itself being a commercial failure. Despite, Dj Hero 2 being a commercial flop the nostalgia with this classic title is strong for many people and they would love to see a Dj Hero 3 in the future. While many people would love to see a Dj Hero 3 its unlikely that Activision would ever move forward into making that idea a reality. The music-rhythm genre of gaming is not nearly as popular as it was during the late 00’s-early 10’s and the landscape of music is completely different today compared to that of fourteen years ago. Today people are more into action-adventure games and RPG’s opposed to music-rhythm games. Also, Dj Hero, Guitar Hero and the Rock Band franchises have been dead for years now due to lack of interest from casual gamers.
