The Nights series is one that is considered to be legendary by many people especially those who are hardcore Sega fans. The very first game within the series was Nights Into Dreams which came out back in ’96 and was a 3D action game that critics found impressive following its initial release for Sega Saturn. Despite, Nights into Dreams receiving a positive reception from critics it did poorly in relation to commercial success due to the Sega Saturn being unpopular in America during mid 90’s. We did get a sequel for Nights Into Dreams back in 2007 entitled Nights: Journey Into Dreams which was a Wii exclusive. Nights: Journey Into Dreams was also a pretty decent game that had great visuals but the gameplay was something that was heavily criticized by players. Following the the release of Nights: Journey Into Dreams Sega has done nothing with series and it seems like they have no plans on doing so anytime in the near future. But if Sega revived the Nights series possibly under a different genre using modern graphics it would be something that would draw attention within the online gaming community. As it currently stands the main things that Sega have going for them right now in terms of gaming is Sonic the Hedgehog, Like a Dragon along with the Persona series. While Sega plans on rebooting older IP’s such as Streets of Rage, Crazy Taxi and Golden Axe its not promised that the new entries for any of those franchises is going to be successful. However, if Sega plans on rebooting older IP’s from the 90’s they might as well add the Nights series into the mix.
