It seems like 2023 has been full of nothing but exciting news as it relates to the gaming world. One of the few things that everyone is talking about right now is the fact that apparently Insomniac Games plans on releasing a new superhero game in the future entitled Marvel’s Wolverine. Based on what we know the reveal for Marvel’s Wolverine was obviously supposed to take place much later possibly sometime in 2024. However, its almost impossible to keep anything a secret in this day and age especially with hackers doing everything they can to leak classified information in relation to upcoming video games. Apparently, Marvel’s Wolverine is going to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive similar to the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 title. It should also be noted that the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine game will be published by Sony Interactive Entertainment similar to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 also. The information regarding Marvel’s Wolverine went viral following a data breach involving Sony and group of hackers who then demanded $2 million for terabytes of stolen data. The ransomware group responsible for the data breach involving Insomniac Games is known as Rhysida and not only do they have access stolen data involving the new Wolverine game; these group of hackers also have personal information of the employees who work for the company as well. The general outlook concerning the nature of this current situation is that in some ways its worse than the Grand Theft Auto VI data breach that occurred back in 2022. With GTA VI beta footage was leaked online and the game had already been announced before it happened. In this case we did not know a brand new Wolverine game was coming and more information was stolen while held for ransom. Based on what we know Sony is currently investigating the situation and we have no word on what type of action they plan on taking towards Rhysida at the moment.
