Sonic Superstars is a game that has mainly received positive reviews since its release on October 17th. Sonic Superstars is a game that many feel is one of the better 2.5D platform Sonic titles that we have seen within the past decade and was more entertaining than Sonic the Hedgehog 4 from 2010. However, despite its popularity there are not too many people who would put Sonic Superstars on the same level as Sonic Mania from 2017. In terms of popularity and mainstream appeal Sonic Mania was a much bigger deal because it was one of the first Sonic entries that Sega had produced in years that people were actually exited about. Sonic Superstars is something that caught the attention of many people in the gaming community mainly because it was competing with Super Mario Bros. Wonder which recently came out for the Switch console on October 20th. Even though, Sonic Superstars is a very fun and adventurous platform game it did not have the level of success that Super Mario Bros. Wonder had especially since its already managed to reach over 4.3 million copies in sales within weeks. Also, it should be noted that despite its popularity Sonic Mania only broke over one million in sales and was nowhere close to being the best selling installment within its series. Even though, Sonic Superstars allegedly drew over $2 million in revenue for Sega shortly after its release it still has yet to reach one million copies in terms of sales which is something that could eventually change in 2024.
