Mortal Kombat 1 has been one of the most popular fighting games of 2023 and the game been off to a good start thus far in relation to commercial success. Since its release back in September 2023 it has been reported that Mortal Kombat 1 has managed to reach at least 3 million copies in sales across multiple gaming platforms. Mortal Kombat 1 was not quite has hyped as much as 2019 predecessor MK11 the presentation of the game was better with beautiful stages along with more vibrant stages and a stacked roster of characters. Along with a new story that does not effect the main storyline of the MK series we got to see the return of old characters who have been absent for the series for a while such as Reiko, Havik, Ashrah and Nitara. Some people love the story for Mortal Kombat 1 along with the progression it has to offer while others feel that its not quite good as MK11. Despite, the mixed reception regarding the story for MK1 there is no question that NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Games managed to deliver a sequel that fans can easily become emotionally invested in. Its too soon to tell whether or not Mortal Kombat 1 will eventually surpass MK11 in sales but since the game is still brand new it has a few years to surpass 15 million units in worldwide sales.
