The Analogue 3D is good news for those who were hardcore fans of the N64 back in the mid to late 90’s. The news broke a few days ago that Analogue a producer for retro based gaming consoles plans on releasing system that plays N64 titles in 4K resolution. Based on what we know the Analogue 3D is supposed to be coming out sometime in 2024 and yet has an official release date or price. The Analogue 3D does not utilize software emulation and does not use copyrighted ROM files; but it will use legacy game cartridges. While its obvious that Nintendo has no future plans on remastering classic titles from the N64 era of gaming the Analogue 3D will N64 fans to enjoy titles like Mario Kart 64, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask and others with modern day 4K graphics. While the Analogue 3D console is an intriguing concept its not necessarily a game changer since more people are interested in current generation game systems such as the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch despite how expensive they are. The Analogue 3D system is basically one that utilizes nostalgia to appeal to a niche audience of gamers. While 64 bit gaming was amazing by late 90’s standards an enhanced version of that is something that would have been a bigger deal if it happened sometime between the late 2000’s-early 2010’s. If the Analogue 3D is almost like compensation for the fact that Nintendo never decided to release a N64 Mini. If the Analogue 3D was portable similar to that of the Nintendo DS it probably would appeal slightly more to casual gamers. But since the Analogue 3D is not portable the pricing for this console would have to be something reasonable for consumers to want to purchase it especially considering the current shape the American economy is in right now.
