Dying Light was one of the most popular survival horror video games of the 2010’s and one that really stood out due to its first person parkour gameplay. Dying Light was published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developed by Techland and was released by in 2015 for PS4, Xbox One and PC before being ported to current generation game systems such as the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Since its release Dying Light ended up achieving massive commercial success and has managed to reach at least 30 million copies in worldwide sales. The fictional post-apocalyptic Middle Eastern setting along with fast paced action made for a pretty exciting gameplay experience to a point where Dying Light seemed more appealing than the likes of Resident Evil 6 during the 2010’s. As a video game Dying Light is a masterpiece in the eyes of many people but some wonder whether or not it could work as a television series. When it comes down to video game based movies and TV shows it seems like we have been getting a lot of those on Netflix within the past couple of years with the likes of Castlevania, Tekken: Bloodline, Twisted Metal and Resident Evil.

While Tekken: Bloodline along with the Castlevania animated series on Netflix have received mainly positive reviews the Resident Evil show from 2022 ended up being cancelled after its first season. Everyone knows that Resident Evil is one of the greatest survival horror video game franchises of all-time and if the Netflix television show flopped in 2022 the same thing could happen if Dying Light got its own show. Dying Light has not been around as long as the Resident Evil series and has yet to achieve the level of popularity as Capcom’s legendary survival horror series. While seeing a live action survival horror television show with parkour actors would be pretty cool in theory Dying Light is played mainly from a first person perspective. A television or film adaptation of Dying Light would probably look very different from the two video games we got in ’15 and ’22 which could ruin the whole experience for those who are die hard fans of the series.
