Everyone remembers how popular Spider-Man was back in the 2000’s especially considering how popular movie trilogy from 2002-2005 ended up becoming. Spider-Man’s popularity only continued to increase following the success of the animated series that lasted from ’92-’97 and we eventually ended up getting some cool games during the 2000’s. Along with the likes of the two PS1 Spider-Man games from ’00-’01 we ended up getting Ultimate Spider-Man from 2005 which ended up being one of the most underrated games the legendary web-crawler was featured during the 2000’s decade. In terms of visual presentation Ultimate Spider-Man looked better than the movie video games that appeared on the PS2 mainly due to the fact that it utilized cel-shaded graphics. This game also allowed players to control either Spider-Man or Venom and had a compelling storyline that followed the events of both characters following their first encounter in relation to the comic book series. The inclusion of Silver Sable as one of the main villains of Ultimate Spider Man was intriguing because it was probably one of the first major video games she was featured in. Ultimate Spider-man also featured the inclusion of several other popular Marvel villains including Carnage, R.H.I.N.O, Electro and Green Goblin. The PS2, Xbox, GameCube and PC versions of Ultimate Spider-Man were arguably the best of the open world design opposed to the side-scrolling action gameplay featured in the Nintendo DS version of the game. The cutscenes for Ultimate Spider-Man along with the voice acting was top tier and entertaining and probably one of the best superhero based action-adventure titles that Activision had published during the mid 2000’s. In fact some people would argue that Ultimate Spider-Man 2005 could rival Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions from 2010 in terms of being underrated.
