When we think about underrated racing games from the 2010’s decade one of the few titles that comes to mind is Blur. Racing games is something that Activision does not specialize in but the Blur title from 2010 ended being more fun than it had any business being. Blur was an arcade styled racing game that looked similar to Ridge Racer and it was designed to appeal to casual fans of the racing genre. Blur was a racing game that had an steep difficulty curve which ended up being one of its biggest negatives but the gameplay itself was addictive. Players were expected to complete key goals during each race and they could pursue optional objectives if they wanted to in the Career Mode for Blur. Players also access to multiple cars such as Fords, Nissans, Audi’s and got to choose what color they wanted before races. In the Career mode for Blur gaining as much fans as possible was almost as important as winning races because the players rewards increased over time. The race tracks and the overall visual presentation of Blur was top notch for its time and its one of those games that deserved a sequel because of how unique it was. At one point Blur was supposed to get a direct sequel during the early 2010’s but it never happened due to the developer Bizarre Creations becoming defunct in 2011. Activision had shut down Bizarre Creations due to disappointing sales and the Blur game itself was also considered to be a commercial failure. A remastered version of Blur in future seems out of the question especially since its been over a decade now and nothing has been done with it. If anything Blur is considered to be a one hit wonder that had the potential to evolve into a beloved racing game series if generated a profit for Bizarre Creations back in 2010.
