When it comes down to highly underrated action-adventure games of the early 10’s one of the few games that instantly comes to mind is Sleeping Dogs. The Sleeping Dogs game was produced by Square Enix and was one of those games that ended becoming a better than many people had initially expected. There were many aspects of Sleeping Dogs that people loved including the fact that it felt similar to a Grand Theft Auto game. Despite, being a “M” rated game Sleeping Dogs was not as violent as Grand Theft Auto and there was more emphasis on melee combat opposed to that of firearms. Sleeping Dogs is also a game that is often compared to Yakuza 0 from 2015 to an extent in terms of overall presentation. While Sleeping Dogs was obviously created to appeal to the casual audience of gamers during the PS3/Xbox 360 era; it was not a massive commercial success following its launch in 2012. However, there were many critics and gaming publications that had nothing but good things to say about Sleeping Dogs including its dialogue, voice-over acting, creative storyline along with the games fluid combat system. There are many people who could go on record and argue that the open world Hong Kong map in Sleeping Dogs was better than what Sega produced in Shenmue 2 from 2001. Despite, Sleeping Dogs not being quite as popular any of the Shenmue games many believe that it deserved some type of sequel seeing that it sold more than one million copies worldwide following its release in 2012.
