The Smackdown video game series is one that is considered to be legendary and is considered to be the greatest set of pro wrestling titles of all-time. Before games like Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain we got to see WWF Smackdown Just Bring It for the PS2 back in 2001. The reason why WWF Smackdown: Just Bring It was such as big deal was because came out the same year WrestleMania 17 happened. WrestleMania 17 is arguably considered the greatest event in WWE history by many critics and 2001 was considered to be the begin of the end of the Attitude Era following the conclusion of the historic PPV. Smackdown: Here Comes Just Bring It was also one the the final games to feature the WWF logo before the World Wrestling Federation became the WWE in 2002. WWF Smackdown: Just Bring was the sequel to the critically acclaimed Smackdown 2: Shut Your Mouth game from 2000. WWF Smackdown: Just Bring had a futuristic-techno theme to it similar to its predecessors but the graphics and gameplay were both ten times better. While WWF Smackdown: Just Bring It had a variety of match types some people were disappointed about the fact that Yuke’s decided to scrap the season mode featured in the Know Your Role game. Instead of getting a year long season mode WWF Smackdown: Just Bring It featured a story mode for each championship. In Story Mode players were allowed to challenge for the World, IC, Tag, European and Hardcore titles. Also, one of the most unique things about the Story mode in Smackdown: Just Bring It was the introduction of Roaming mode which allowed players to travel around the arena from a first person perspective. Players had a roster of at least 40 different characters including some of the hottest superstars of the early 2000’s including Stone Cold “Steve Austin”, The Rock, Triple H, The Undertaker, Kane, Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle and more. There were various match types that players could choose in Exhibition mode including Singles, Tag-Team, Cage, Hardcore, Table, Ladder, TLC and Hell in a Cell. WWF Smackdown: Just Bring It was also a game that was considered to be ahead of its time because it was the first ever pro wrestling game to feature an Eight Man Tag match. Players could choose to fight in various venues including Monday Night Raw, Sunday Night Heat, Thursday Night Smackdown along with some of the major PPV’s from 2001 including WrestleMania 17. WWF Smackdown: Just Bring It was also one of the first pro wrestling games to feature live commentary along with a soundtrack playing during each match. Its a shame that WWF Smackdown: Just Bring It gets overlooked as often as it does because with out it Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth and Here Comes The Pain from ’02-’03 never happens.
