The 90’s was such a great time to be a Capcom fan which was also the case if you loved Marvel as well. During the 90’s we got to see a series of high profile fighting titles produced by Capcom including X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, Marvel vs Street Fighter along with Marvel vs Capcom. But when it comes down to the Marvel vs series one of the most underrated yet overlooked installments in the entire franchise is Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter from 1997. Despite, Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter not having a story mode the game had a basic Arcade and Versus mode that was addictive both in arcade centers and at home. Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter had a small roster but it had fast paced gameplay and included various popular characters from the Marvel and Capcom series including Ryu, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Akuma, Apocalypse and many others. Despite, not having the same level of commercial success as its ’98 sequel Marvel vs Capcom it was still one of the best arcade fighting games of 1997. The soundtrack in Marvel vs Street Fighter felt special because it was original and the graphics looked better than its ’96 predecessor X-Men vs Street Fighter. Despite, how difficult the boss battles were in Marvel vs Street Fighter towards the end of game with Apocalypse and Cyber-Akuma each character had a distinct ending which made this title feel special. The only version of Marvel vs Street Fighter that was faithful to the original that was seen in arcade was the Sega Saturn port with the PS1 version being considered poor in terms of quality.
