The Mortal Kombat series has been around for 30 years now and is considered to be one of the great video game franchises of all-time. There are many classic entries within the Mortal Kombat series that fans have fond memories about including the the original trilogy of games from ’92-’95 along with Mortal Kombat IX-XI from the 2010’s decade. While the Mortal Kombat series is seemingly more popular now than its ever been the series had went through a brief dark period during the 2000’s. During the 2000’s decade the Mortal Kombat franchise had some good games but it was not getting nearly as much mainstream attention as it was during the 90’s or the 2010’s decade. But when you think about games like Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance from 2002 its one of the few titles from the 00’s that created some type of buzz before and after its release. The storyline for Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance was very intriguing and focused on the deaths of the main protagonist Liu Kang and Shao Khan who was the main villain at time. Both Liu Kang and Shao Khan’s came at the hands of Shang Tsung and Quan Chi who had formed an alliance in order to resurrect an ancient army as a part of their plans to control the Outworld. The story for Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance was highly underrated because it was something that was unpredictable and we also got to see the introduction of various new characters including Li Mei, Bo’ Rai Cho, Frost and Kenshi. The gameplay in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance was also pretty unique since each character had around three fighting styles they could choose from with one of them including weapons. There was no question whatsoever that Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance was ten times better than MK4 and was even more challenging in comparison. Despite, the positive reception the Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance had received after its release on the PS2 during the early 2000’s the game was never remade mainly due to the fact that Midway Games became defunct in 2010. While Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance was impressive during its time period some would argue in favor of games like Mortal Kombat: Deception or MK: Armageddon as being the most underrated entry within its series.
