There is no question that the 2010’s decade was the best time period to be a gamer especially if you owned a PlayStation 4. There so many high profile games that were released on the PS4 during the second half of the 2010’s decade such as Marvel’s Spider-Man, Uncharted 4 along with God of War. While the action-adventure genre was very popular throughout most of the 2010’s decade it seems like action role playing games started to attracted both casual and hardcore gamers as well. One of Sony’s most popular action role playing game of the 2010’s decade was Horizon Zero Dawn which was released for the PS4 in February 2017. Despite, not having the same level of success as CD Projekt Red’s Witcher 3 game it managed to become one of the best selling titles for the PlayStation 4 reaching over 10 million copies in sales. Horizon Zero Dawn had a beautiful open world environment a great story with the gameplay being mildly difficult for casuals when it came down to combat and battling monster. The skill tree included in Horizon Zero Dawn added depth to game itself and multiple side questions that players could easily indulge in. Horizon Zero Dawn was probably the main action role-playing game that rivaled Monster Hunter: World from 2018 in terms of popularity. Between Horizon Zero Dawn and Monster Hunter: World are two games that have arguably contributed to the rise in interest among casuals for monster hunting action role playing genre during the second half of the 2010’s along with Witcher III: The Wild Hunt.
