When it comes down to high profile RPG games from the 2010’s that received a ton of mainstream attention prior to its release Kingdom Hearts III is one of the many titles that everyone thinks about. The hype for Kingdom Hearts III prior to its release was insane especially since people have been waiting for its release since 2005 when Kingdom Hearts II was released. While Kingdom Hearts III was a massive commercial success from 2019 onwards selling over 6.7 million copies worldwide the game did have its fair share of criticisms following its release. While the graphics, soundtrack and character designs were all strong positives in Kingdom Hearts III many people complained about the overall pacing of the storyline. The storyline in Kingdom Hearts III seemed to drag during the first half of the game and most of the characters involved especially Kairi were nearly useless. Kingdom Hearts III had limited scenes featuring Mickey & Riku while Sora was pretty much shoved down everyones throats throughout the game since he pretty much did everything on his own. While Sora is pretty much a likable character the way he was used in Kingdom Hearts III was disappointing along with the rest of the storyline. There were many diehard fans of the Kingdom Hearts series who were waiting for KH3 over almost fifteen years and the game obviously feel below their desired expectations. The final chapter in the Dark Seeker/Xehanort Saga should have been better than what Square Enix gave us since they had over a decade to create Kingdom Hearts III. Even though, Kingdom Hearts III gained a ton of mainstream attention it was still outclassed by various other RPG’s from the 2010’s such as: The Witcher 3, Persona 5, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout: New Vegas. While Kingdom Hearts III earned more money for Square Enix than KH2 there is no question that the 2005 installment for the PS2 was a better game overall.
