It seems like 2023 has been a great year thus far in relation to the RPG genre of gaming . Since the start of the year we got to see the release of various high profile RPG’s including Hogwarts Legacy, Final Fantasy XVI along with Diablo IV which have all received great receptions from critics and gaming publishers alike. Baldur’s Gate III is the latest high profile RPG that has caught the attention of the gaming community. Bauldur’s Gate III was released for multiple gaming platforms including the PS5, Xbox Series X and PC and since then the game has managed to sell over 2.5 million copies worldwide. A decade from now Bauldur’s Gate III will be looked at as one of the greatest video games that Larian Studios has ever produced and one the best RPG’s of the 2020’s decade. The cinematic cutscenes, dark atmosphere and hellish landscape almost rivals that of Diablo IV. While some people are probably disappointed about Bauldur’s Gate III being a turn-based RPG its something that is not too surprising considering the fact the prequel also featured that form of gameplay. The Dungeon & Dragons series generally has turn-based gameplay but nowadays it seems like more video game developers prefer action role-playing games because they appeal to more casuals. While the cutscenes for Bauldur’s Gate III amazing some people have criticized it for feeling more like a puzzle game than a RPG. Another minor criticism of Baldur’s Gate III involves its difficulty since many complain that its hard no matter that level the game itself is on. Despite, what critics have to say about Bauldur’s Gate III hardly anyone is going to argue against the game’s price tag of $59.99.
