The Wario Land series is one that is highly underrated in relation to the platform genre of gaming. The Wario Land series started back in 1994 and was also known as Super Mario Land 3. The original Wario Land game was the sequel to Super Mario Land II from ’92 where Wario himself was the main villain after stealing Mario’s castle along with the rest of his kingdom. The Wario Land series was mainly feature on handheld gaming systems such as Game Boy and Game Boy Advance between the mid 90’s-early 2000’s. The last main installment within the Wario Land series came out back in 2008 for the Nintendo Wii. Before that we also got see Wario Land 4 for the Game Boy Advance back in 2001. Wario Land 4 ended up becoming a commercial success following its release in the early 00’s reaching over 2 million copies in sales. Despite, the success Wario Land 4 had Nintendo for whatever reason Nintendo decided not to make an official Wario Land 5 game and ended creating the WaroWare Inc. back in 2003. While many people love the WarioWare series there are many people who were a bit disappointed that Nintendo eventually decided to discontinue the production of Wario Land games. The Wario Land: Shake It game from 2008 is considered to be more a spin-off to the series than an official entry to many people. It should also be noted that Wario Land: Shake It was not nearly as popular as its predecessors despite receiving decent reviews from gaming publishers and critics alike. There is no guaranteed that a potential Wario Land 5 game from Nintendo would provide the company with the type of profit that it seeks. Also, the Legend of Zelda and the Super Mario Bros series will always overshadow the Wario franchise no matter what. If Nintendo wanted to produce a Wario land 5 game they most likely would have done so by now.
