The Final Fantasy series is considered to be one of the most legendary JRPG’s off all-time and it seems like the series has experienced a resurgence in popularity within the past several years. While the Final Fantasy series arguably reached its peak between the late 90’s-early 2000’s the first half of the 2010’s marked somewhat of a dark period for the series. The Final Fantasy XV game from 2016 reignited the interest of longtime fans of the series while appealing to casuals. It should also be noted that Final Fantasy XVI which came out back in June 2023 ended up being a far better installment than many people had anticipated. While its unlikely Final Fantasy XVI will ever sell as much as the original FFVII game from ’97 the series itself is still extremely popular. In fact, was recently reported that the Final Fantasy series has managed to sell at least 180 million since its inception back in 1987. There is no question that Final Fantasy series is within the top ten greatest RPG franchises of all-time and Square Enix is going to do everything they can to deliver new entries that will continue to expand the fan base of the legendary video game series in the future.
