There is no question that 2023 has been a great year thus far for gaming world in relation to video game releases and film and television in general. So far we got to witness the release of several high profile video games in 2023 including Hogwarts Legacy, Diablo IV, Street Fighter VI, Final Fantasy XVI and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Another game that people are really looking forward to seeing in the near future is Baldur’s Gate III which is an upcoming turn-based RPG that is set to be released in August 2023. Baldur’s Gate III is the highly anticipated sequel to the legendary Baludur’s Gate II game which was released back in 2000 for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS. Not only was Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn a better installment than its ’98 predecessor but it managed to earn over $9 million in revenue shortly after its release in 2000. The question is whether or not Baldur’s Gate III can surpass its 2000 predecessor in commercial success in relation to sales and revenue. Baldur’s Gate III is suppose to be set 120 years following the events of its prequel and will include both single-player and multiplayer gameplay. We are also have a new developer and publisher for Baldur’s Gate III known Larian Studios which a Belgian company. Baldur’s Gate III will be the first main entry within the series without Bioware working as the developers which makes people somewhat skeptical on what the overall quality of the game is going to be like. Its seems unlikely that Baldur’s Gate III ends up surpassing the likes of Hogwarts Legacy and Diablo IV in terms of popularity and overall commercial success.
