When it comes down to underrated classics from the PS3 era of gaming one of the few titles from the early 10’s that surprisingly succeeded the expectations of many people was Heavy Rain from 2010. Heavy Rain was created by French video game developer Quantic Dream SA and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and was one of the most popular video games for the PS3 back in 2010. Heavy Rain had an intriguing plot with RPG elements where players got to choose their dialogue during various cutscenes along with branching storylines depending on the decisions players made within the game. The visuals for Heavy Rain was considered to be a strong positive along with the fact that players had control of four different characters who were all protagonists trying to solve the mystery of the Origami Killer.
Also, despite the fact that Heavy Rain was not technically a survival horror video game it gave off Silent Hill vibes due to its dark atmosphere. Since its release Heavy Rain managed to reach over 5 million in copies sold across multiple platforms including the PS3, PS4 and Microsoft Windows. Despite, its success one of the major points of criticism that Heavy Rain received was related to its voice acting which definitely could have been better. Its been about twelve years since Heavy Rain was released for the PS3 and while the game has been re-released for PS4 and Microsoft Windows between ’16-’19 there are probably many people who would not mind the game getting a 4K Remake for the PlayStation 5. While the PS3 and PS4 versions of Heavy Rain are playable for the PlayStation 5 due to backwards compatibility many would probably argue against the idea of a 4K remake of the game itself as it seems unnecessary.
