Retro Gaming 10’s- Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)

There is absolutely no question that 2015 was a great year for the video game industry mainly because there were so many big and memorable titles that were released that year. During the year ’15 we got to see the release of critically acclaimed classics such as Fallout 4, Bloodborne, Mortal Kombat X, Dragonball Xenoverse, and Dying Light which were all commercial success. But when it comes down to mainstream success one of the few titles that stood out the most from ’15 was Star Wars: Battlefront which appeared on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. Star Wars: Battlefront was a 3D shooter game developed by D.I.C.E. and published by Electronic Arts that could be played from a first or third person perspective and utilized the Frostbite 3 Engine.

For those who are hardcore fans of the Star Wars series the Battlefront game had almost everything one could ask for with the exception of a story mode. However, despite not having a campaign mode the game had at least a dozen game multiplayer gameplay options which was basically the best thing about Star Wars: Battlefront. The online multiplayer game mode allowed up to 40 players simultaneously and players had at least 16 differnt maps to choose from. Players could travel across multiple planets including Hoth, Jakku, Endor, Sullet, Bespin, Jakky and Tatooine. Star Wars: Battlefront also provided players with a robust list of weapons including Blaster Pistols, Blaster Rifles DH-17’s, Flash Grenades, T-21, T-50’s and more. There were various popular characters from the Star Wars series who featured in the ’15 Battlefront game including Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, Boba Fett, Leia Organa, Han Solo and more.

The multiplayers mode featured in Star Wars: Battlefront including the likes of Supremacy, Hero Hunt, Heroes vs Villains, Fighter Squadron, Walker Assault, Blast and Cargo which were all kept players highly entertained as they do everything possible to survive in each game. Since its ’15 release Star Wars: Battlefront has managed to ship out over 14 million copies of the game and is considered one of the most popular non Call Of Duty shooter games from the 10’s decade along with Battlefront II from 2017. Star Wars: Battlefront had a high replay value because there was so much to do in the game along with the fact that there were multiple expansion packs that came out following its initial release back in late 2015. There have been countless Star Wars games that have been released within the past 30 years and the 3D shooter genre where the series seems to stand out the most in. Even though, we got two Star Wars: Battlefront games between ’15-’17 its unlikely that we are going to get a Battlefront III anytime in the future since Electronic Arts has no current plans on making a reality.
