When the Duke Nukem series had first emerged back in the early 90’s there weren’t to many people who thought that the game would be as popular as it is today. In fact, some might find it surprising that the very first Duke Nukem game started off on the MS-DOS after being developed by Apogee Software. The colorful 2D graphics for the first two Duke Nukem were quite impressive.
The graphics for the first two Duke Nukem games looked like something you would see on the SNES game console. If the first two Duke Nukem titles were featured on the SNES or the Sega Genesis the series could have been much more popular then it was back in the 90’s. But then again when it came down to the platform genre of gaming in the early to mid 90’s more people where interested in family friendly titles such as the Super Mario Bros and Sonic the Hedgehog series. In theory the first two Duke Nukem games could have worked on either 16 bit console but it’s questionable how they would have done in terms of sales.
