Without a doubt Super Mario RPG for the SNES was a classic that many retro gamers still cherish to this day.  However, there are some people who look back and wonder whether or not Super Mario RPG would have been better off on the N64 than the SNES.  The 3D sprites and visuals of Super Mario RPG for the SNES shows that Nintendo could have easily made that title work on the N64.  

While Super Mario RPG could have worked for the N64 it could have possibly been overshadowed by titles such as Mario Kart 64, Super Mario 64 which was released during the 1996-1997 time period.  Also, the fact that Super Mario RPG was released for the SNES is one of the things that made the game itself impressive because many people thought that they would never see a 3D like game for the SNES during the time.
