When we think about Classic fighting titles from the 90’s we tend to remember the Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat and the Tekken series. However, along with games like Killer Instinct the Fatal Fury series is generally overlooked when it comes down to fighting titles of the early 90’s. As far as gameplay is concerned The Fatal Fury series arguably had better in game mechanics than the Street Fighter II series.

With characters such as Mai Shiranui, Terry Bogard, Joe Higashi, Andy Bogard and Gesse Howard the Fatal Fury games were so much fun to play in arcade centers. While there were some games in the Fatal Fury series that received ports for the Super Nintendo along with the Sega Genesis they paled in comparison to the Arcade and Neo Geo versions of each game.

Besides the landscape of the fighting genre back in the 90’s was more competitive opposed to now which is probably why the Fatal Fury series did not become more popular than it was.
