It has been recently confirmed that Microsoft has ceased the production of the original Xbox One model which was first released back in the Fall of 2013.  When the original Xbox One was first released back in America it was priced for $499.  Since then the price of the original Xbox One has dropped to prices that many thought was reasonable.  

However, the introduction of the Xbox One S along with the the upcoming release of the Xbox One X is Microsoft’s main focus right now.  Since the Xbox One X is backwards compatible with older generation Xbox games discontinuing the production the original Xbox One console would help Microsoft profit from their latest products.
