The concept of Sonic Shuffle was pretty interesting especially when it came down to collecting precious stones in both story and versus mode. People were able to chose up to eight playable characters such as Sonic, Tails, knuckles and Amy Rose in this classic Dreamcast title. While the idea of a card based board game was something that was very innovative it Sonic Shuffle did not do to well in terms of sales.

Sonic Shuffle was definitely overshadowed by games such as Mario Party I & II which sold millions of units around the world. Despite, the amount of criticism that Sonic Shuffle receives some people believed that the game deserved a direct sequel even though it did not do too well in sales. However, if Sonic Shuffle was competing with the Mario Party series then making only one Sonic Shuffle games was probably the best decision for Sega in the long run.
